General Info

If you’re craving a proper takeaway experience in East Kilbride, Adios Fish And Chips is one of those spots that feels instantly familiar the moment you walk in. It’s the kind of place where the menu is straightforward, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the focus is clearly on delivering classic fish and chips done right.

Located at 35 St James Ave, this fish and chips takeaway keeps things simple but effective. On my visit, I noticed how smoothly everything runs-from ordering to collection. The team seems well-practiced, and that efficiency really adds to the overall experience. Whether you’re popping in for a quick takeaway or planning to order from home, the service options make it easy to fit into your routine. There’s no-contact delivery for convenience, takeout for those on the go, and onsite services if you prefer to order directly at the counter.

The menu sticks closely to what you’d expect from a traditional chippy, which is honestly part of the charm. It’s not trying to reinvent anything-it’s about consistency and flavor. Portions are satisfying, and everything feels freshly prepared. That balance between crisp batter and tender fish is exactly what you hope for, and it’s delivered without fuss.

What stood out to me beyond the food was how inclusive the setup is. There’s wheelchair accessible seating, which makes the space more welcoming for everyone. Plus, the assistive hearing loop is a thoughtful touch that shows attention to customer comfort-something not every takeaway considers. These small details can make a big difference in how people experience a place.

In terms of location, it’s easy to find and well-positioned for locals in East Kilbride. It’s the kind of neighborhood spot that you can rely on regularly, whether it’s a midweek dinner or a casual weekend treat. Reviews from regulars often highlight the consistency, and after visiting, it’s easy to see why people keep coming back.

Overall, Adios Fish And Chips delivers exactly what it promises: a no-nonsense takeaway with solid food, reliable service, and a setup that works for a wide range of customers.

What customers say?

“ I'm on a Keto diet and spoke to the chef who was an absolute legend and accommodated that requirement perfectly, he did me a pan fried haddock with a tomato sauce, fried onions and chillies. Absolutely delicious Could not ask for better service or food when put on the spot with an unusual requirement. Thank you! ”

“ I ordered delivery for the first time last night and it will definitely not be my last time! Food arrived piping hot and fresh despite the nearly 10 minute distance the driver had to travel. I never usually order from somewhere that distance away as the food normally doesn’t travel well so I was delighted with how it arrived! I would highly recommend, would give it 10 stars if I could! ”

“ What is going on with the website?? Couldn't order without it adding to some items that were in my checkout that I couldn't see when I tried to view the items in checkout....... Used the app and it worked fine and food was good. Maybe I was just unlucky when using the online website. ”

“ A chippy with a very good menu, a little on the pricey side but that's not an issue for the quality is great the vast majority of the time. The regular and special fish suppers are both great. Sausage suppers are great as well as the black puddings. The batter they use is lovely and crispy and comes out the same every time. The chips are perfectly cooked and definitely the best in the east kilbride chippy scene. The tacos this place does are a real surprise as they are wonderful and definitely not what you would expect from a chippy. Would highly recommend the prawn tacos. Pizzas from here are a real treat, especially the gluten free ones. Very high quality ingredients and easily contends with other high quality pizza places. On occasion this place will have an off day tho which can be very disappointing, but they are very good about refunds and re-making food as you would hope. Only warning is that delivery can take a long time so if you want to order delivery from here put the order in before you are hungry lol ”

“ As the saying goes, everyone knows the rules... This is my first visit here and if I'm ever back in town, I'll be sure to call again. The pizzas were very lovely and had a really fresh taste to them. The crust/pizza had just the right amount of char as well. Would highly recommend. ”

“ Best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Staff are friendly and helpful all,And very reasonable price as well. If ever in east Kilbride again I will be going back. ”

- Mark Leaning -

“ Being new to EK I have tried a few chippys, this is the best one to date. My only criticism is I ordered a large chicken supper and couldn’t fault the chicken however as I asked for a large supper, the chip portion was poor, the carton only allows a few scoops of chips in the carton. Apart from the chip portion this is a great chippy. ”

“ We always get a single large fish, portions are more than enough. Fritters are good too. ”
